The Citadel of Carcassonne
As Europe's most completely preserved medieval fortified city, the Cité is the undisputed cultural landmark of the region. With its monumental double walls, 52 towers and the Château Comtal (Count's Castle), it transports visitors directly back to the Middle Ages. # The Canal du Midi
